I accidently ran into Deb Dobbin on Facebook, her radiant face and smile caught my attention-then I saw we had 11 mutual friends, so I added her as someone I should know. Then, I went to her Yoga site and her jewelry site (http://www.debdobbin.com/  )and read about her amazingly popular yoga class in Santa Barbara, Ca. I then saw all these teachers on Yoga Soup; and I was stunned. They are all glowing! I love it! These are my kind of my people. From the inside out, their beauty transcends. I had to copy the whole darn thing and I hope they don’t mind. If I lived any closer, I would find a tiny corner to take a yoga class there. Much love, and peace to all of you!

kristen
Cynthia Abulafia
Cynthia discovered yoga as a young teenager, and

soon fell in love with breath, bandhas,

and bones alike.

After studying comparative religion at

Tufts University in Boston,

she returned to Los Angeles, where she was fortunate enough

to continue her studies with her outstanding

mentors from Yoga Works,

Annie Carpenter and, in particular,

Jasmine Lieb, both of

whom nourished her love of anatomy,

alignment, and intelligent

sequencing in the classroom. Though

she generally teaches very

strong vinyasa flow classes stemming

from the ashtanga tradition,

she has become equally fascinated with

the therapeutic applications

of yoga. She developed osteoporosis in

her early 20’s,

which was truly a blessing in her life, moving

her deeper into an interest

in anatomy and yoga therapy.

Yoga is a practice for everyone, at every stage of life, every age,

and every physical ability. She believes

in supporting the body with

strength and vitality at all levels, two

qualities that have made

her bones healthy again. Her classes

will always bring a level

of challenge to the physical body

and a sense of

humor and lightness to the practice.

A safe space to explore

boundaries and play at yoga. She has

also studied with masters

in a variety of traditions, including Iyengar

with Gabriela Giubilaro,

Vinyasa Krama with Srivatsa Ramaswami,

Vinyasa Flow with Vinnie

Marino, and Thai Yoga with Saul David Raye.

in 1998. He bows to the Lotus feet of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois,

dancing and has expanded through Ashtanga, Kriya Yoga

lies at seeking the truth, not the relative truth, but the

truth of all truths, her current

favorite is “we all die.” Nicole owns

and teaches at Source Yoga Studio, a little gem here in

Santa Barbara. In addition to being certified in Yoga,

she is Certified in Yoga Therapy, Thai Yoga Bodywork with

Mari Larangeira

Mari fell in love with yoga over ten years ago.

She has experienced first hand the healing and

transformative power of yoga, balance and spiritual exploration

. Yoga has been a catalyst for Mari to restore vibrant

health to her body and lightness in her heart. She is

dedicated to supporting each student

in that process. Her classes are

vigorous and meditative. She works

to create an environment for

students to deeply explore themselves and

bring their body closer to its potential for

vigor and optimal health.

Her teaching benefits from years of study of postures,

anatomy and alignment. While her classes include

much information about the postures, the emphasis is

on breathing deep into the body, getting warm in a dynamic flow,

building strength, and releasing tension and stuck energy.

Mari holds three certifications, one in Yoga Therapy,

one from the Atma Vikasa School of Yogic Studies in Mysore,

India, and one from Bikram’s Yoga College of India.

All yogis are welcome in Mari’s classes, although it may

be quite challenging for someone brand new to the practice.

Paige Olsen

Paige was first introduced to Qi Gong in

1998 during her recovery from chronic

fatigue syndrome and within a week,

this new daily practice gave her the

stamina to make it through an entire

day without having to rest every few hours.

A year later she began to study Tai Chi.

Shortly after beginning an apprenticeship

with her teacher Master Manzazi Malonga,

she decided to go back to school to study

Chinese Medicine. Now a Licensed Acupuncturist

and Diplomate, Paige teaches Yang Classical-Family

Style Tai Chi with a strong emphasis on healing

the body through movement and breath work.

Paige also has a background in Hatha and Naga

Yoga, various styles of Qi Gong and Taoist

meditation, which she integrates into her classes.

She works with the concepts of discovering stillness

in motion and motion in stillness. Her classes offer

the opportunity to experience the individual’s

organic sense of flow in movement while learning

the Tai Chi forms, thus unencombering the

body of blockages that cause pain and discomfort.

Deborah Donahue

Deborah is an Integrative Yoga

Therapist, Reiki practitioner and

writer with a background in theater and dance.

She first discovered yoga in 1990 while recuperating

from a life-threatening illness and the

loss of a daughter. The experience was

a great teacher and necessitated her

adopting a new perspective. This included,

at times, a humble surrender to the mystery

one encounters rather than struggling against the current.

Yoga afforded Deborah the grace of expansion,

of deepening one’s presence to the moment at hand

and an opportunity to make relationship with the body

in a fresh and lively sense. It also broke open her heart,

allowing the gift of being an empathic and intuitive healer.

She has since worked in hospice for many

years as well as with those experiencing cancer,

cardiac and AIDS. Deborah also has an abiding

passion for women’s issues and integrating

writing into the healing paradigm. She counts among

her mentors Sarah Powers, Paul Grilley, Scott Blossom,

Cheri Clampett and Lisa Walford.

Kaita Lepore

Kaita Lepore loves to move. She received

. Drawing on her experience in pilates, fitness,

is infused with a rich understanding of the human body.

Rikka Zimmerman

Access is a proven method for personal growth

and transformation that I have been fortunate

enough to study and apply for the last 5 years.

Access empowers you to shift anything in your life

or body that is no longer working for you.

Whatever you are asking to change, will.

As I have been facilitating classes there have

been many astounding changes in the lives of my clients.

Examples include having cancer disappear,

dropping 50 lbs in 2 months, generating way

more money than they thought was possible,

receiving the relationship they had been asking for,

and there have even been clients that have come

to me wanting to commit suicide who are now blissful

beings generating a phenomenal life.

Are you completely happy with the way your life is?

Or would you be interested in playing with what else is possible?

When I started Access I thought I was already

creating some pretty wonderful things.

I felt . . . “Pretty Cool” . . . I had created

“Rikka Zimmerman Photographers”,

a successful wedding photography business.

I bought a loft downtown Santa Barbara.

I played guitar and wrote music as a hobby,

and had a few small shows in the area.

“Pretty Cool” . . . Right? Then I took my

first Access class and began using the tools,

and I have been on a rocket ship of

receiving and generating my phenomenal

life ever since! Business has tripled,

and I just signed an awesome major

record deal 6 months ago!

Dare I ask . . . “How does it get any better than that?”

deep appreciation for honoring the true

definition of the word Yoga, where all

Jason has lectured at the University of Pennsylvania,

UCLA, CSUN, and many other local studios.

He currently holds a private practice in Summerland, CA.

Yanoula Athanassakis

Yanoula began practicing yoga in the cold

winters of Illinois and
decided to start teaching soon thereafter.

She completed her
certification at the Santa Barbara Yoga

Center and studied under Erich
Schiffman and Sarah Powers. She’ll readily admit,

however, that it’s the fluence of a wide variety

of local teachers that has kept her
practice and dedication alive. In 1998 she began

studying Tibetan
Buddhism under B. Alan Wallace and this

interest easily translated
into a path towards yoga (with some prompting

by her mother).
